IKA T 25 DIGITAL ULTRA-TURRAX • 0003725001 • US 100–120 V

High-shear preparation starts with the right drive. Results depend on the right tool.

Turn a nonuniform liquid sample into a workable research preparation with rotor-stator dispersion. The classic IKA T 25 digital ULTRA-TURRAX gives you an LED speed readout, stepless adjustment from 3,000 to 25,000 rpm and electronic speed control for batch homogenizing, emulsifying and dispersing.

This listing is for the drive only. Choose a compatible dispersing tool, stand, clamp and suitable vessel separately. The guide below explains three reusable tool choices so you do not mistake a broad 1–2,000 mL water-based range for the working range of one universal shaft.

What are you buying, and what completes the setup?

Included: the drive

One IKA T 25 digital ULTRA-TURRAX, catalog 0003725001. The manual also lists its extension arm, hexagon socket screw, DIN 911 screwdriver and operating instructions. This is not a preconfigured stand-and-tool kit.

Choose separately: the tool

A compatible S 25 dispersing tool is required. Choose its water-based working range, head diameter, immersion requirements, seal and wetted materials for your method.

Choose separately: support

Use suitable support and vessel restraint for the setup. IKA lists stands, a boss-head clamp and a strap clamp as accessories. They are not included in this drive-only order.

Where the T 25 digital earns its place

Liquid sample homogenization

A fit for research preparations that need intensive local shear rather than simple bulk circulation. Tool selection and the starting sample determine the achievable result.

Emulsions and dispersions

Use an appropriate rotor-stator element to work on liquid-liquid emulsions or solid-liquid dispersions. Confirm chemistry and process limits instead of selecting by RPM alone.

Environmental and formulation research

IKA identifies wastewater homogenization and laboratory-research dispersion among the applications. Develop a suitable method for sample volume, viscosity, heat sensitivity and the selected tool.

How the tool creates high shear

Simplified rotor-stator principle: sample enters axially and exits radially through the stator slots while the rotor turns inside
Original explanatory schematic based on the manufacturer’s rotor-stator description. Not an exact-tool cutaway or dimensional drawing.

The motor turns the rotor inside a stationary stator. Sample is drawn axially into the head, then forced radially through the rotor-stator arrangement. Strong shear develops in the narrow working gap.

That is why a disperser is not interchangeable with a magnetic stirrer. A stirrer is often appropriate for dissolving or bulk mixing; a rotor-stator disperser is chosen when the preparation calls for intensive shear, dispersion or emulsification.

  • Intake: sample enters along the tool axis.
  • Processing: the rotating rotor works inside the fixed stator.
  • Outflow: processed liquid exits radially and recirculates in the vessel.

Speed, head design, solids, sample volume and processing time work together. A high RPM value alone does not establish the final particle or droplet size.

Which dispersing tool do I need?

These are three manufacturer-listed reusable S 25 N options for the classic T 25 digital. They are not included, are not interchangeable at every volume, and are not selectable purchase variants of this drive listing. Water-based ranges are starting points, not universal guarantees for every sample.

S 25 N - 8 G dispersing head, catalog 0001024200, optional tool sold separately
Manufacturer close-up: S 25 N - 8 G. Optional tool, not included with the drive.

S 25 N - 8 G

Catalog 0001024200
Working volume: 1–50 mL H₂O
Stator diameter: 8 mm
Immersion depth: 27–85 mm

Small-volume preparations. A useful starting point when your water-like sample volume is small and the vessel allows the specified immersion. Do not substitute the larger 25 mm head just because the drive is rated up to 2 L.

S 25 N - 18 G dispersing head, catalog 0000593400, optional tool sold separately
Manufacturer close-up: S 25 N - 18 G. Optional tool, not included with the drive.

S 25 N - 18 G

Catalog 0000593400
Working volume: 10–1,500 mL H₂O
Stator diameter: 18 mm
Immersion depth: 40–165 mm

A broad middle range. Consider this middle-size tool when its range, immersion and vessel geometry match your method. The overlapping volume range with other heads does not make their performance identical.

S 25 N - 25 G dispersing head, catalog 0001713300, optional tool sold separately
Manufacturer close-up: S 25 N - 25 G. Optional tool, not included with the drive.

S 25 N - 25 G

Catalog 0001713300
Working volume: 50–2,000 mL H₂O
Stator diameter: 25 mm
Immersion depth: 40–165 mm

Larger research batches. This example reaches the drive family’s 2 L water-based upper range. Check the sample depth, clearance, viscosity and required circulation rather than choosing solely by vessel capacity.

The immersion values above are published tool specifications, not a universal startup instruction. Follow the drive and tool manuals together. For operation near a tool’s lower published immersion limit, have IKA confirm your vessel and fill geometry before use. Maintain at least 10 mm between the tool and vessel bottom, as required by the drive manual.

All three examples list AISI 316L stainless steel and PTFE as medium-contact materials. Their N-type construction is not rated for vacuum operation. A vacuum or pressure process requires a specifically suitable sealed tool and complete system, not just a different speed setting.

Fibrous material?

Evaluate the separately listed saw-tooth ST tools for cutting and tearing fibrous material. Do not assume the ordinary G examples shown above have the same geometry or suitability.

Fine emulsions or closed systems?

Fine F tools and sealed KV/KD designs have different application limits. Review the exact element data with IKA before choosing a tool for a specific fineness, vacuum or pressure requirement.

Build a supported, restrained setup

R 1825 plate stand, catalog 0003160000. Optional, not included. Manufacturer photograph with surrounding white space normalized.

Support the drive and secure the vessel

The drive’s extension arm is 13 mm in diameter and 160 mm long. IKA’s accessory selection includes the R 1825 plate stand, the R 182 boss-head clamp and the RH 3 strap clamp. Confirm the complete mounting arrangement for your vessel and tool before ordering.

This instrument is for stand-mounted operation, not handheld use. The R 1825 stand supports the assembly; the R 182 boss-head clamp accommodates its 16 mm rod and the drive’s 13 mm arm. The RH 3 is a separate vessel-restraint accessory. The manual requires glass vessels to be secured, and at least 10 mm of clearance between the tool and vessel bottom.

IKA R 182 boss-head clamp, catalog 0002657700, optional accessory
R 182 boss-head clamp, catalog 0002657700. Optional, not included. RH 3 strap clamp, catalog 0003008600, is a separate vessel-restraint choice.

A practical workflow for repeatable preparation

1 • Match the method

Define sample volume, viscosity, solids, materials compatibility and temperature sensitivity. Select the shaft and vessel as a pair, using the tool’s immersion limits rather than the drive’s overall capacity.

2 • Assemble with power isolated

Follow the instrument and selected tool instructions for mounting and installation. Check that the tool is secured, the support is stable and the vessel cannot rotate or move.

3 • Use short, controlled runs

Place the tool correctly in the liquid before operating. Start at the lowest speed and increase as needed without splashing. The three S 25 N tool manuals limit a run to one minute; seconds may be sufficient. Record tool, volume, RPM and time for repeatability.

4 • Stop, cool and clean

High shear introduces heat. Monitor temperature-sensitive preparations and stop when the method requires. Switch off and disconnect power before disassembly or cleaning, then follow the tool-specific cleaning instructions.

Avoid the three most common selection mistakes

Drive duty is not tool run time. The drive is rated for 100% ON time, but the S 25 N tools shown here are not intended for continuous operation. Their manuals specify a maximum one-minute run. Do not use the motor’s duty rating to justify a longer tool run.

  • Do not run the dispersing tool dry. The circulation opening must remain in the medium, with the specified immersion maintained.
  • Do not confuse the drive’s 5–40 °C ambient rating with a tool’s medium-temperature limit. Chemistry, seals, vessel and tool all have their own limits.
  • Do not keep extending run time to chase a guaranteed fineness. Temperature rise, air entrainment and tool wear may become the limiting factors.

Use only within the instrument and tool manuals. This page is for research laboratory use, not clinical or diagnostic use. Do not use this drive in explosive atmospheres.

Classic T 25 digital or an EASY CLEAN model?

This page: classic T 25 digital

Catalog 0003725001. LED speed display, 3,000–25,000 rpm and 800 W input / 500 W output. Choose a separately supplied, compatible S 25 tool. This is the established classic drive.

EASY CLEAN digital / control

These are separate instruments. Do not transfer their brushless-motor, cleaning, interface or temperature-sensing claims to this classic model. If your workflow needs those functions, request an exact-model comparison before buying.

Related equipment for the preparation bench

Related workflow: IKA C-MAG HS 7 digital hotplate stirrer supports heated magnetic mixing in a separate workflow. It does not replace the T 25’s high-shear action and is not offered here as a compatible disperser support.

Related workflow: Heathrow borosilicate glass beakers provide vessel options to review. Check the chosen vessel’s internal dimensions, condition and method suitability; no blanket fit with every S 25 tool is implied.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is included with T 25 digital ULTRA-TURRAX 0003725001?

This listing supplies the classic T 25 digital drive in the US 100–120 V configuration. The dispersing tool is not included. Stands, clamps, vessel restraints and vessels must be selected separately; this is not a complete stand-and-tool kit.

Which tool lets the T 25 work with small sample volumes?

IKA lists the S 25 N - 8 G, catalog 0001024200, for 1–50 mL of water-based sample. Its stator diameter is 8 mm and specified immersion depth is 27–85 mm. The actual sample and vessel must allow suitable immersion and circulation.

Can a single shaft process the entire 1–2000 mL range?

No. The drive’s range covers suitable different tools. Examples are S 25 N - 8 G 0001024200 for 1–50 mL, S 25 N - 18 G 0000593400 for 10–1500 mL and S 25 N - 25 G 0001713300 for 50–2000 mL, all specified for H₂O.

Can this setup run continuously because the drive is rated 100% ON time?

No. Drive duty and tool run time are separate limits. The manuals for S 25 N - 8 G, -18 G and -25 G specify non-continuous operation and a maximum one-minute run. Follow the more restrictive tool and sample limits, even though the motor’s permissible ON time is 100%.

Is the classic T 25 digital the same as T 25 EASY CLEAN?

No. They are different IKA instruments. This page is for classic catalog 0003725001. Do not assume EASY CLEAN brushless, interface, cleaning or temperature-sensing features are included. Tool compatibility must be checked for the exact drive and element.

Can the S 25 N tools shown here run under vacuum?

No. IKA marks the S 25 N - 8 G, -18 G and -25 G examples as unsuitable for vacuum operation. A vacuum or pressure method requires an appropriately rated sealed tool, vessel and complete setup. The drive alone does not establish a system pressure rating.

Can the tool run dry or touch the vessel bottom?

Do not run the dispersing tool dry. Keep the circulation opening and the required length of the tool immersed, and keep the head clear of the vessel wall and bottom. Switch off before removing the tool from the liquid or changing the setup, following the manual.

How do I prevent heating and cross-contamination between samples?

High-shear processing adds heat, so monitor temperature and develop a suitable speed and run time for the sample. Clean reusable tools according to their instructions and your laboratory procedure. Separately selected disposable tools are single-use, not a reason to promise zero contamination in every workflow.
