APERA INSTRUMENTS / PH60-MS / AI3725

Small sample.
Complete sensor contact.

The smaller sensing end is only part of the small-volume story. PH60-MS combines a semi-micro LabSen 246-5 pH/temperature electrode with the supplied container method so both the glass and reference junction can contact the sample.

Choose this kit for a defined small-volume or test-tube workflow. Apera’s 60 µL minimum is conditional on the supplied semi-micro container and required junction coverage, not a universal minimum for every vial.

SMALL VOLUME IS A VESSEL-AND-CONTACT CLAIM

60 µL is a method,
not a promise for every vial.

Apera’s minimum uses the supplied semi-micro container and requires the liquid to cover the white reference-junction spot as well as the glass. A wet sensing tip alone is not enough.

LabSen246-5 method schematic: both glass membrane and reference junction covered; not to scale
Source-grounded method schematic, not the exact vessel geometry or a scale drawing. The full US manual defines the supplied-container method.

Tip diameter

The stated 6mm is a sensing-tip dimension, not the diameter of the whole electrode assembly.

Liquid height

Junction coverage and container geometry determine contact; do not infer a different vial’s minimum from 60 µL.

Manufacturer kit diagram. The text checklist provides readable ordering details; solution volumes are not assumed from other regions.

Know the exact probe
and standards in the case.

PH60 meter body, LabSen 246-5 external pH/temperature electrode, CalPod solution organizer, pH 4.00, 7.00 and 10.01 buffers, 3M KCl storage solution, protective cap, instructions and carrying case, plus the semi-micro container. Four AAA batteries are factory-installed per the model’s preparation instructions.

The current US kit buffer set is pH 4.00, 7.00 and 10.01. Match that working set to your sample and calibration method; do not assume every specialized PH60 package contains the same buffers.

SAMPLE FIT BEFORE FEATURE COUNT

Where this configuration fits.

Limited aqueous samples

Use the supplied container method when working near the stated minimum. Wetting only the glass does not complete the reference contact.

Test-tube workflows

Check vessel opening, probe geometry and liquid height. The 6mm sensing tip does not mean the whole assembly fits every 6mm opening.

Repeat small-volume checks

Keep sample preparation, junction coverage and carryover control consistent. Vessel geometry can matter as much as nominal microliters.

The electrode is the specialized part.

Semi-micro sensing tip; 6mm tip diameter is not the overall probe diameter. The ceramic junction and its sample contact are part of the method, not a universal chemical-compatibility or maintenance-free guarantee.

The volume claim belongs to a specific container/contact method. It is not permission to lower the liquid below the junction, not an arbitrary-vial guarantee and not a dimension for the entire electrode shaft.

Manufacturer PH60-MS sample/probe reference illustration
Reference imagery illustrates the application or technology. The supplied exact probe is LabSen 246-5.

Set up the method before chasing the number.

Use the supplied semi-micro container for the 60 µL claim and ensure liquid covers the white reference-junction spot as well as the glass. For other vessels, evaluate geometry and required immersion rather than extrapolating that minimum.

Calibrate the pH system

Use the specified kit buffers and current instructions. Start at neutral as directed, then choose the appropriate additional points. Do not infer an included ORP or EC probe.

Make the right contact

Keep glass and junction in contact with a representative sample, limit carryover, and wait for a stable reading under the defined method.

Meter electronics and sample suitability are different.

The current US specialized-kit manual specifies a PH60 display range of -2.00 to 16.00 pH, 0.01 pH resolution and ±0.01 pH ±1 digit meter accuracy. Those numbers do not by themselves establish probe-range, chemical compatibility or total method accuracy.

Temperature measurement/ATC is 0-100 °C in these current US kit instructions. A higher electrode-only temperature figure does not extend that electronic interval or validate every part of the assembly in the sample.

Storage solution is not a refill instruction.

The listed LabSen 246-5 is non-refillable. Its internal reference/electrolyte description is separate from the external 3M KCl storage vial. Do not open/refill the reference because a chemical name appears in a table.

Rinse before and after measurements without rubbing the glass. Use contaminant-specific manufacturer care rather than an improvised chemical recipe; after deep cleaning follow the required rehydration and recalibration sequence.

Store the probe in its tightly closed vial with the specified 3M KCl solution, not tap, RO, distilled or deionized water. Keep solution fresh and the connector clean/dry. A dry or poorly stored probe needs the model’s recovery routine before calibration.

See the LabSen family technology.

Apera’s electrode-family introduction explains the general technology. It is not an exact PH60-MS operating tutorial; use this kit’s current manual for sample preparation, limits and care.

Related general-water measurement workflows.

These are separate instruments for different water-measurement tasks, not substitute specialized electrodes for PH60-MS. A general-water meter link does not establish HF, caustic, hot-process or direct-food compatibility.

PH60-MS buying and method questions

Can PH60-MS measure any 60 µL sample in any vial?

No. The US manual’s 60 µL claim uses the supplied semi-micro container and requires the white junction spot to be covered. Other vessels need their own geometry/contact assessment.

What comes in AI3725?

PH60, LabSen 246-5, semi-micro container, CalPod, pH 4.00/7.00/10.01 buffers, 3M KCl, cap, instructions and case are listed. The model-specific preparation indicates four AAA batteries are installed.

Why must the reference junction be submerged?

pH measurement needs the sensing membrane and reference pathway to contact the sample. A wet glass tip alone does not establish correct reference contact.

Does the 6mm figure describe the complete electrode?

No. It is the sensing-tip diameter, not a claim that the whole shaft or connector fits a 6mm vessel opening. Check the exact probe and vessel geometry.

What is the meter’s resolution and accuracy?

The current US kit manual specifies 0.01 pH resolution and ±0.01 pH ±1 digit meter accuracy. Correct contact, calibration and sample-method effects remain separate.

Is LabSen 246-5 refillable?

No. It is a non-refillable semi-micro electrode. Internal gel/electrolyte wording is not a refill instruction.

What replacement connection is required?

The exact replacement is LabSen 246-5, AI3235, with 8-pin connection. Do not assume a similarly named adjacent BNC semi-micro model fits the PH60 socket.

How do I store the semi-micro probe?

Keep the storage vial tightly closed with specified 3M KCl, not pure water. Rinse carefully, avoid rubbing the glass, and follow the current instructions for cleaning, rehydration and recalibration.

Match the sample.
Confirm the exact kit.
