Stand-alone color touchscreen

Three practical reasons to consider this configuration

Keep routine work on the instrument

Photometric, quantitative, spectrum scan, kinetics and multi-wavelength functions are available at the touchscreen. A separate computer is not required for stand-alone operation.

Start with a clearly defined cell setup

The published standard configuration is a manual 10 mm four-cell holder, four glass cuvettes and two quartz cuvettes. Automatic sampling and temperature-controlled accessories are separate choices.

Move results into your data workflow

USB storage/export plus USB and RS232 interfaces provide routes for data handling. Confirm the supplied PC-control application and license if computer control is part of your planned workflow.

Choose by method, then by workflow

Start with your measurement wavelengths, spectral bandwidth requirement and cell geometry. A 2 nm bandwidth can fit methods that allow it; it is not interchangeable with a 1 nm requirement. Narrower bandwidth may help distinguish closely spaced spectral features, but does not guarantee better accuracy for every measurement.

01 · Method fit

Check that every required wavelength lies within 190–1100 nm and that your procedure accepts fixed 2 nm bandwidth. Define the blank, solvent and expected absorbance range.

02 · Cell fit

Use UV-transmitting quartz for UV measurements. Check optical path, cell dimensions, fill volume and material compatibility; included glass cells are not an assurance of full-range UV transmission.

03 · Workflow fit

Decide whether manual cell changes meet your throughput needs. If you need automation, heating, micro-volume work or reflectance, confirm the specific compatible accessory before ordering.

This selection guide describes purchase decisions, not the internal optical layout. DNA/protein functions support measurement workflows; they do not establish validation for a particular assay.

Is double beam necessary for your lab?

Double-beam optics use sample and reference measurement paths to support reference comparison during a measurement workflow. This can be useful when following spectra or kinetics and managing source-related variation. Correct blanking, matched cells, sample preparation and a suitable method still matter.

Double beam is not always necessary. A single-beam instrument may be appropriate for routine measurements when its specifications meet your procedure and your blanking workflow is suitable. Beam configuration alone does not prove universal accuracy superiority.

Which Scilogex UV-Vis configuration fits your lab?

All four models cover 190–1100 nm. Choose bandwidth against your method and beam design against your blank/reference workflow. This is a configuration guide, not an accuracy or performance ranking.

Model Beam Design Bandwidth Best-Fit Consideration
SCI-2101UV Single beam 1 nm When sequential blanking suits your workflow and your method calls for 1 nm bandwidth.
SCI-2102UV Single beam 2 nm When sequential blanking suits your workflow and your method accepts 2 nm bandwidth.
SCI-3101UV Double beam 1 nm When sample/reference measurement suits your workflow and your method calls for 1 nm bandwidth.
SCI-3102UVThis listing Double beam 2 nm When sample/reference measurement suits your workflow and your method accepts 2 nm bandwidth.

On a phone, swipe the chart horizontally to compare all four columns. Double beam is not automatically necessary; confirm your method, cuvettes and measurement requirements before selecting.

What is standard—and what needs a separate decision?

Manufacturer-listed standard items

Manual 10 mm four-cell holder; four 10 mm glass cuvettes; two 10 mm quartz cuvettes; power cord; user manual; PC software. Confirm the supplied software package and current packing list.

Optional workflow accessories

The manufacturer lists automatic cell holders, thermostatic automatic sampling, adjustable micro-cell holders, reflection accessories and integrating spheres as optional. Availability and compatibility need confirmation for your intended setup.

Software wording is inconsistent: the standard accessory list includes PC software, while the feature text calls Wave Professional optional. Do not assume the named PC-control application, a particular license or operating-system compatibility is included.

Eight buyer questions, answered

What exactly am I selecting with SCI-3102UV?

MPN 401042010009 identifies the SCI-3102UV: double-beam optics, 190–1100 nm wavelength range and fixed 2 nm spectral bandwidth. It is not the 1 nm SCI-3101UV or other SCI-5101XUV configurations. The bandwidth unit is nm, not mm.

Is 2 nm bandwidth suitable for my method?

Use the bandwidth specified or permitted by your procedure. Fixed 2 nm may suit many broad-band measurements, but a method requiring 1 nm should not be assumed compatible. Evaluate narrow or closely spaced peaks and any method-specific acceptance criteria before choosing.

Should I choose double beam over single beam?

Choose double beam when the reference workflow is useful for your scans, time-based measurements or method. It does not remove blanking or cell-matching requirements. Single beam can be sufficient when the method and instrument specifications fit; neither label guarantees universally superior accuracy.

Which holder and cuvettes are listed as standard?

The manufacturer lists a manual 10 mm four-cell holder, four 10 mm glass cuvettes and two 10 mm quartz cuvettes, plus power cord and user manual. For UV work use appropriate UV-transmitting quartz. Confirm cell dimensions, fill volume and solvent compatibility rather than assuming specialty cells will fit.

Does the standard instrument automate samples or control temperature?

No automatic holder or thermostatic sampler is promised in the standard list. These, along with micro-cell, reflectance and integrating-sphere accessories, are listed as optional. Specify sample volume, throughput and temperature needs so the compatible configuration can be confirmed.

Do I need a PC, and is Wave Professional included?

The instrument supports stand-alone operation and USB data handling. PC software appears in the standard list, but Wave Professional is described as optional elsewhere on the same manufacturer page. Confirm the application name, PC-control license, supported computer requirements and delivery format before relying on computer control.

What warranty and electrical configuration will I receive?

Ask Blue Tiger Scientific to confirm the warranty terms for this exact MPN and the supplied voltage, frequency and plug. Published electrical sources differ: the brochure lists AC 110 V/60 Hz or 220 V/50 Hz, while the applicable manual lists a broader range. Do not assume universal input or a particular warranty duration from family-level wording.

How do I order SCI-3102UV, and what should I confirm before delivery?

Confirm availability, lead time, shipping dimensions, packed weight and site requirements with your order. The brochure, current page and manual disagree on logistics values, so none is a guaranteed shipment measurement. Plan a stable bench, appropriate power and the operating conditions in the manual; do not assume installation services or a delivery date are included. Order catalog 401042010009 through Add to Cart, or use the existing Add to Quote option for a purchase-order quote or application question. A storefront quantity is not proof of physical supplier stock or immediate dispatch.

Before ordering

Share your method wavelengths, permitted bandwidth, solvent, cuvette dimensions, sample volume and data workflow with Blue Tiger Scientific. Confirm the software license, any optional accessories, electrical configuration, warranty and delivery details for MPN 401042010009.
