Low-salinity testing.
A clear 10-ppt limit.

The Salt20 gives a conductivity-derived salinity reading for suitable low-salt water samples. Its pocket format, automatic calibration and temperature display make routine checks straightforward, while the 10-ppt ceiling keeps the application choice clear.

Choose AI214 for samples within 0-10.0 ppt, such as appropriate salt-pool and low-salinity process water. It is not a meter for typical full-strength seawater or concentrated brines.

MATCH THE INSTRUMENT TO THE SAMPLE

Where Salt20 earns its place.

Saltwater pools within range

Check suitable pool samples with salinity below the instrument’s 10-ppt ceiling. Follow the salt-system supplier’s target and maintenance procedure.

Low-salinity aquaculture

Use only where the expected sample salinity fits 0-10.0 ppt and the method suits a conductivity-derived value. Generic aquarium wording does not make it a seawater instrument.

Process checks and education

Compare low-salt aqueous samples within a defined routine. This is a salinity estimate from conductivity, not a chemical identification of every dissolved salt.

Typical full-strength seawater is around 35 ppt, above Salt20’s 10-ppt ceiling. Choose a suitable higher-range salinity instrument for seawater or concentrated brines. The temperature-compensation feature does not extend the salinity range.

One standard. A focused salinity workflow.

Salt20 uses a single 12.88 mS/cm conductivity calibration point and displays salinity plus temperature. Current specifications give 0.1 ppt resolution and ±1% full-scale accuracy, with automatic temperature compensation over 0-50°C.

The integrated BPB sensor is nonreplaceable and includes temperature sensing. It measures the conductivity used for the salinity conversion. Rinse between samples and use the manufacturer’s conductivity-sensor care rather than pH-electrode KCl storage.

Sensor geometry and maintenance requirements are model-specific.

A clear routine, from setup to storage.

01

Calibrate with the correct standard

Use the included 12.88 mS/cm conductivity standard for Salt20’s single automatic calibration point. Do not copy EC20’s two-point routine or use pH buffers.

02

Confirm the sample fits the range

Use an expected salinity within 0-10.0 ppt and temperature within 0-50°C. Rinse, immerse as directed, stir gently and wait for the stable-reading indicator.

03

Rinse away salt residues

Rinse after use, remove excess water and replace the protective cap. Follow BPB conductivity-sensor storage guidance; do not soak it in glass-pH-electrode KCl storage solution.

Which measurement do I need?

These are different measurement choices, not interchangeable names for the same application.

EC20 · Read EC directly

Choose conductivity units when your procedure calls for µS/cm or mS/cm readings.

TDS20 · Use a defined factor

Choose a TDS display when your workflow specifies ppm/ppt and a conductivity-to-TDS factor.

Salt20 · Stay below 10 ppt

Choose a focused low-salinity reading. Its 10-ppt ceiling excludes typical full-strength seawater.

Complete the measurement workflow.

Keep pH, conductivity, TDS and salinity distinct when choosing instruments. The following are related measurement options, not accessories that attach to this tester.

Salt20 buyer questions

What is included in Salt20 AI214?

The kit includes Salt20, 12.88 mS/cm conductivity calibration standard, four AAA batteries, lanyard, carrying case and instructions. Its calibration routine uses one standard, not pH buffers.

What is the Salt20 range and resolution?

Current product specifications support 0-10.0 ppt salinity with 0.1 ppt resolution. The instrument also displays temperature; its rated measurement and ATC interval is 0-50°C.

Can I use Salt20 for seawater or a marine aquarium?

Not for typical full-strength seawater. Its maximum is 10 ppt, whereas typical seawater is around 35 ppt. Select a suitable higher-range instrument for that application.

Can Salt20 measure saltwater pools?

It can measure suitable pool samples within 0-10.0 ppt. Check the expected salt level and follow the pool system’s specified procedure; do not assume every saltwater application fits the range.

How is Salt20 calibrated?

Use one automatic calibration point with 12.88 mS/cm conductivity standard. Its salinity measurement is conductivity-derived, so the supplied standard is expressed in conductivity units.

What does ±1% F.S. salinity accuracy mean?

F.S. means full scale, not one percent of each displayed reading. The stated accuracy is not a separate promise of absolute-salt or composition-independent conversion accuracy.

Does Salt20 measure pH, EC or TDS as separate modes?

No separate user-visible pH, conductivity or TDS measurement mode is established for Salt20. It displays salinity and temperature, even though conductivity is the basis of the salinity calculation.

Can the Salt20 sensor be replaced?

No. The BPB conductivity sensor is integrated and nonreplaceable. Rinse away sample residues and store capped according to BPB guidance; do not use the KCl soaking routine for glass pH electrodes.

Choose the kit that fits the work.
