APERA INSTRUMENTS / PH60S / AI313
The PH60S brings a replaceable spear-shaped pH electrode to water-containing soft solids, semi-solids and viscous samples. Test suitable cheese, meat, fruit, dough or sauces with a kit built around the sample-contact task.
Choose AI313 when a standard bulb is awkward for the sample. Match its spear contact, temperature range and sample-preparation method to your application before testing.

MATCH THE INSTRUMENT TO THE SAMPLE
Use suitable samples containing water, such as cheese, fruit, meat or dough. Prepare hard samples with a pilot hole instead of forcing the glass spear.
Bring the sensing tip into direct contact with a suitable water-containing sample. Clean residues between samples so carryover does not compromise the next reading.
Compare prepared samples within a defined method. A pH result alone does not establish microbiological safety, shelf life or suitability for consumption.
The current PH60S manual discourages soil and high-particulate samples because particles can block the reference junction. Test a separate sample portion; the manual instructs that tested food should not be eaten. Never force the glass spear into hard or frozen material.
PH60S combines fine display resolution, automatic 1-3 point calibration and a backlit pH/temperature display. The replaceable spear electrode gives you a defined maintenance path, while the stability indicator helps identify when to record the reading.
The PH60S-E spear electrode uses a polymer-gel reference system and is replaceable. Keep it hydrated in 3M KCl, handle the glass gently and clean off sample residues before the next test. Do not let the spear dry out.
Start with pH 7.00, then use pH 4.00 and/or 10.01 as appropriate to the expected sample. Wait for a stable reading before confirming.
Use a suitable water-containing sample, make a pilot hole if needed and avoid excessive force. Keep temperatures within the instrument limits and wait for stability before recording.
Rinse away residues, follow the manual’s cleaning guidance and keep the PH60S-E stored in 3M KCl. Do not let it dry or store it in pure water.

These are different measurement choices, not interchangeable names for the same application.
For regular aqueous samples where a glass bulb is the appropriate contact geometry.
For suitable surface-contact and small-volume methods, with the flat sensing face correctly wetted.
For water-containing soft solids, semi-solids and viscous samples. Not a general soil pen.
Watch the manufacturer’s sample-measurement demonstration alongside the written steps. Keep the current manual as the authority for preparation, calibration and care.
Optional electrode illustrations do not mean extra tips are included. The standard AI313 kit is described above; choose additional accessories only for a verified requirement.
Keep pH, conductivity, TDS and salinity distinct when choosing instruments. The following are related measurement options, not accessories that attach to this tester.

The kit includes PH60S with PH60S-E spear electrode, pH 4.00, 7.00 and 10.01 buffers, 3M KCl storage solution, three calibration vials, four AAA batteries, lanyard, carrying case and instructions.
Apera lists water-containing soft solids, semi-solids and viscous samples such as cheese, meat, fruit, sushi rice, dough, yogurt and sauces. Choose a sample preparation and cleaning routine appropriate to the material.
Do not select it as a general soil pen. The current PH60S manual discourages soil and samples with many solid particles because they can block the reference junction. Use a soil-specific method and instrument instead.
Do not force the glass spear into hard or frozen material. Prepare the sample as required and make a pilot hole for hard samples. Use a suitable temperature and handle the glass tip carefully.
No. A pH reading alone does not establish food safety or shelf life. Test a separate sample portion and follow the current manual, which instructs that tested food should not be eaten.
Specified pH accuracy is ±0.01 pH ±1 digit, with 0.01 pH resolution. The rated temperature/ATC interval is 0 to 50°C; the current manual advises avoiding below 5°C or above 45°C for best accuracy and probe care.
Yes. Its standard replacement electrode is PH60S-E, catalog AI1205. The pH probe is a separate replacement item; do not assume every tip pictured in a series illustration is supplied in AI313.
Rinse off residues between samples, use the manual’s cleaning and reconditioning method for contamination, and keep the spear hydrated in 3M KCl solution. Do not let it dry and never use pure water for storage.
