APERA INSTRUMENTS / PH60F / AI312
Not every pH sample fills a beaker. The PH60F uses a replaceable flat glass electrode for suitable moist surfaces, small-volume aqueous samples and general liquids, with 0.01 pH resolution in a portable kit.
Choose AI312 when direct flat contact is a better match than a conventional bulb or a piercing spear. Follow the sample-preparation method for the surface you are testing.

MATCH THE INSTRUMENT TO THE SAMPLE
Bring the flat sensing face into contact with a suitably prepared moist surface. Keep the contact area consistent and follow the material-specific test method.
The flat electrode can work with small liquid samples without claiming a universal minimum volume. Ensure the sensing area has the liquid contact required by the manual.
Apera lists skin surfaces and regular aqueous testing among its applications. This is a measurement tool, not a clinical diagnostic device or a direct measure of product safety.
Surface pH depends on sample preparation, moisture and contact. Use the same preparation and contact procedure when comparing samples. Do not force the flat glass face into a hard material or assume a dry surface gives a representative bulk pH.
Automatic 1-3 point calibration, a three-color backlit display and stable-reading indication support a clear routine from setup to recording. The display shows pH and temperature, and automatic HOLD can be enabled when helpful.
The PH60F-E flat electrode is replaceable. A flat face supports surface-contact methods; it is not a spear for puncturing food or soil. Replace the correct electrode rather than substituting a different contact geometry without evaluating the method.
Start at pH 7.00 and add pH 4.00 and/or 10.01 points appropriate to the expected pH. Use clean standards and confirm only after the reading is stable.
Prepare the surface or small liquid sample according to your method. Bring the flat sensing area into suitable liquid contact without using it as a piercing probe.
Remove sample residues gently, rinse and follow the manual’s 3M KCl storage instructions. Never leave the pH electrode stored in tap, RO, distilled or deionized water.
How to calibrate Apera Instruments 60 Series Premium pH Testers (1-3 points calibration) · Apera Instruments
These are different measurement choices, not interchangeable names for the same application.
For regular aqueous samples where a glass bulb is the appropriate contact geometry.
For suitable surface-contact and small-volume methods, with the flat sensing face correctly wetted.
For water-containing soft solids, semi-solids and viscous samples. Not a general soil pen.
Watch the manufacturer’s product demonstration alongside the written steps. Keep the current manual as the authority for preparation, calibration and care.
Optional electrode illustrations do not mean extra tips are included. The standard AI312 kit is described above; choose additional accessories only for a verified requirement.
Keep pH, conductivity, TDS and salinity distinct when choosing instruments. The following are related measurement options, not accessories that attach to this tester.

The PH60F kit includes the flat-electrode tester, pH 4.00, 7.00 and 10.01 buffers, 3M KCl storage solution, calibration vials, four AAA batteries, lanyard, carrying case and instructions. A separate ORP electrode is not included.
PH60F uses the PH60F-E flat glass electrode for surface contact and small-volume methods. PH60 uses the PH60-E bulb electrode for general aqueous samples. Both support fine pH readings, but their contact geometry is different.
Apera lists paper, fabrics and leather as flat-electrode applications. The sample needs a suitable surface-contact preparation method. Use consistent moisture and contact conditions when comparing results.
Do not assume a completely dry surface provides a valid pH measurement. Follow an appropriate wetting or sample-preparation method and the instrument instructions so the flat sensing area makes the required liquid contact.
The specified pH accuracy is ±0.01 pH ±1 digit, with 0.01 pH resolution. The meter displays -2.00 to 16.00 pH; the standard flat electrode is rated for 0 to 14 pH and 0 to 50°C.
Yes. The model-specific replacement is PH60F-E, catalog AI1203. Rinse, install, condition and calibrate according to the instructions before returning it to use.
No. PH60F has a flat glass sensing surface, not a piercing spear. PH60S is the family’s spear configuration for suitable water-containing soft solids and semi-solids; soil suitability must not be assumed.
Keep the pH electrode hydrated using the manual’s storage instructions and 3M KCl solution. Rinse after samples and never store the electrode in tap, RO, distilled or deionized water.
