Choose the motion and moisture protection your bench needs. Major Science MS-NOR orbital shakers combine digital control and a 30 × 30 cm platform, with standard MS-NOR-30 and anti-moisture MS-NOR-3001 options.
MAJOR SCIENCE · MS-NOR-30 / MS-NOR-3001
From reagent mixing to routine sample agitation, the Major Science MS-NOR family brings adjustable orbital motion to a compact benchtop instrument. Digital controls, an LED display and a stepping motor let you set the speed and run time for each protocol.
Both MS-NOR-30 and MS-NOR-3001 provide a 30 × 30 cm platform, up to 10 kg loading capacity and continuous or timed operation. Choose the standard model for routine laboratory work, or the anti-moisture model when cold-room conditions make condensation management a priority.
300 × 300 mm
Included platform with flat non-slip rubber mat.
Up to 200 rpm
Published overall speed range; follow mode-specific operating limits.
10 kg maximum
Published family load limit, not a per-tier allowance.
MS-NOR-30 · standard
Choose the standard orbital model for routine bench work. Supplied with the 300 × 300 mm platform and flat non-slip mat.
MS-NOR-3001 · anti-moisture
Adds coating to the electrical structure. Manufacturer names cold-room and CO2-incubation applications; confirm the intended chamber conditions, not a universal waterproof rating.
Use the model selector above to choose the actual catalog number. Both options share the published platform size, motion settings and 10 kg maximum load; the coating is the defining model distinction.
MS-NOR-30 is the standard orbital shaker. MS-NOR-3001 adds an anti-moisture coating to the electrical structure while retaining the same published motion, speed, platform size and loading capacity.
Major Science identifies MS-NOR-3001 for cold-room and CO2 incubation applications. Match the intended temperature, humidity and chamber conditions to the manufacturer's guidance before specifying it for an incubator.
Select continuous one-way orbital shaking or alternating clockwise and counter-clockwise motion. The published speed range is 0 to 200 rpm with 1 rpm adjustment, and maximum orbital stroke is 20 mm.
For alternating motion, set the travel between direction changes from 0.1 to 10 circles in 0.1-circle increments. Follow the current supplied instructions for mode-specific speed restrictions; do not assume every motion mode uses the full published speed range.
Use continuous operation for open-ended mixing or set a timed run up to 9999 minutes. Digital microprocessor control and the LED display keep speed and timing settings accessible at the front of the instrument.
Timed operation ends with automatic shut-off and an audible signal. That combination helps manage repeatable mixing intervals without relying on a separate bench timer.
The included 300 × 300 mm platform and flat non-slip rubber mat provide a working surface for compatible vessels. Both models have a published maximum loading capacity of 10 kg.
Distribute vessels evenly and secure them with accessories appropriate to their shape and the selected speed. An optional second platform adds another level, but the manufacturer notes that second-tier operation can change the maximum loading capacity.
Optional accessories include flask holders, strip springs, a dimpled mat, a sticky pad, a universal adjustable platform and an additional stacking platform. These let you configure the shaker around the vessels you actually use instead of treating every sample format the same.
The orbital platform's published flask-holder capacities are 13 × 50 mL, 12 × 125 mL, 9 × 250 mL, 5 × 500 mL, 4 × 1000 mL or 1 × 2000 mL. These are alternative maximum layouts, not a set of holders supplied with the standard shaker.
Each model measures approximately 300 × 310 × 130 mm and weighs approximately 7 kg. Allow additional space for vessels, accessory platforms, access and ventilation when planning a bench or chamber position.
The published operating-temperature specification is ambient to 40°C, and the electrical specification is selectable 110 V or 220 V AC at 50/60 Hz. Confirm the required supply configuration and your intended operating environment when selecting the shaker.
These rows describe separate maximum layouts, not a mixed-load total or an included clamp set.
The standard family holder chart lists one 2000 mL holder. The separate MS-UP-30 universal adjustable platform is listed for a maximum of two 2 L flasks. These are different retention arrangements, not conflicting included-capacity claims.
Select the platform and holder format around the actual vessel footprint and height, then secure and distribute the load for the intended speed. An optional stacking platform also needs its own capacity check.
Alternative format: 3D rotating mixer
For a workflow calling for a different mixing motion, review the separate rotating-mixer format and confirm its container requirements. It is not a like-for-like orbital replacement.
Related workflow: digital peristaltic pump
For a separate liquid-transfer stage, explore the pump and its tubing-dependent flow selection. No mechanical or control compatibility with the shaker is implied.
MS-NOR-30 is the standard model. MS-NOR-3001 adds an anti-moisture coating to the electrical structure for cold-room applications. Both share the same published orbital motion, 0 to 200 rpm speed range, 30 × 30 cm platform and 10 kg maximum load.
Major Science identifies MS-NOR-3001 for cold-room and CO2 incubation applications. Its anti-moisture coating is not a waterproof enclosure or an IP rating. Confirm the chamber temperature, humidity and condensation conditions: the public table states ambient to 40°C but gives no model-specific cold minimum or RH envelope.
Both models have a published maximum load of 10 kg on the 300 × 300 mm platform. Manufacturer guidance says capacity may change with an additional tier; it is not 10 kg per tier or a guaranteed 20 kg total. Balance and securely retain the actual vessel layout for the selected motion and speed.
Both offer one-way orbital or alternating clockwise/counter-clockwise motion, with 0.1 to 10 circles between changes in 0.1-circle increments. The current table lists 0–200 rpm overall without a mode breakdown. A manufacturer-authored 2014 exact-model manual specifies two-direction operation below 100 rpm; check the current supplied instructions if alternating speed is essential to your method.
The standard model description includes the selected orbital shaker, a 300 × 300 mm platform and a flat non-slip rubber mat. Flask holders, strip springs, dimpled mats, sticky pads, universal adjustable platforms and additional stacking platforms are optional.
The manufacturer's orbital-platform capacities are 13 holders for 50 mL flasks, 12 for 125 mL, 9 for 250 mL, 5 for 500 mL, 4 for 1000 mL or 1 for 2000 mL. These are alternative layouts. The separate MS-UP-30 universal adjustable platform is listed for up to two 2 L flasks and should not be confused with the standard flask-holder layout.
Both support continuous operation or timed runs up to 9999 minutes. An audible signal accompanies automatic shut-off at the end of a timed run.
Major Science lists both models with selectable 110 V / 220 V AC power at 50/60 Hz. Specify the supply required for your installation and confirm the unit's voltage configuration before connecting it.
Optional accessories are separately ordered; photographs are not a packing list.
