Heparin Magnetic Agarose Beads

$1,245.00

    Catalog Number: B2025508 (1 mL)

Heparin Magnetic Agarose Beads (Catalog #B2025508) are magnetic particles coated with heparin, a glycosaminoglycan that binds a diverse range of proteins, including growth factors, cytokines, extracellular matrix proteins, and other heparin-interacting proteins. These beads enable rapid, high-capacity purification through affinity chromatography, batch binding, or magnetic pull-down assays. The integrated magnetic core allows for fast, efficient separation without centrifugation or gravity flow. Supplied as 1 mL solution. Custom bulk amounts of this product are available upon request.

Products are for in vitro research use only (RUO).

Heparin Magnetic Agarose Beads – Catalog #B2025508

Heparin Magnetic Agarose Beads (Catalog #B2025508) are magnetic agarose particles functionalized with heparin, a highly sulfated glycosaminoglycan that binds a broad spectrum of proteins. Supplied as a 1 mL solution, these beads facilitate rapid, high-capacity purification of heparin-binding proteins including growth factors, cytokines, chemokines, extracellular matrix proteins, and other heparin-interactive biomolecules. The magnetic core enables fast separation using standard magnetic particle handlers or external magnets, making this resin particularly suitable for high-throughput applications and automated workflows.

Scientific Overview

Heparin is a linear, highly sulfated glycosaminoglycan composed of repeating disaccharide units (glucuronic acid and glucosamine) with extensive negative charges. This structure allows heparin to interact with a diverse array of proteins through electrostatic and specific binding interactions. Well-known heparin-binding proteins include acidic fibroblast growth factor (aFGF), basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and numerous chemokines and extracellular matrix proteins.

Heparin-coated affinity resins have been used for decades to purify these proteins; the addition of magnetic properties dramatically improves handling and throughput. Heparin magnetic agarose beads combine the proven specificity of heparin-based chromatography with the convenience of magnetic separation, making them ideal for both analytical and preparative protein purification.

Key applications include:

  • Rapid purification of growth factors and cytokines
  • Isolation of heparin-binding extracellular proteins
  • Sample enrichment and fractionation from complex mixtures
  • Magnetic bead-based separation for high-throughput and automated workflows
  • Pull-down assays for heparin-binding protein interactions

Usage & Handling Guidance

Store at 2–8°C. Before each experiment, mix gently to resuspend beads uniformly. Avoid excessive agitation, which may cause aggregation.

  • Sample preparation: Clarify samples (e.g., cell lysates, culture supernatants) by centrifugation or filtration before loading to minimize bead clogging.
  • Binding: Incubate your heparin-binding protein sample with beads in bind/wash buffer at 4°C or room temperature (typically 1–4 hours) with gentle mixing.
  • Separation: Place the tube in a magnetic stand; beads will collect at the tube wall in 1–2 minutes.
  • Washing: Separate magnetically and wash 3–5 times with bind/wash buffer to remove unbound protein and salts.
  • Elution: Elute bound protein with increased salt (e.g., 0.5–1.0 M NaCl) or other appropriate elution buffer, or resuspend beads directly in SDS-PAGE sample buffer for analysis.

What You Get

Why Researchers Choose It

  • Broad specificity for a diverse range of heparin-binding proteins
  • Rapid purification without centrifugation or gravity flow
  • Proven decades of use in heparin-based affinity chromatography
  • Compatible with batch, column, and automated separation methods
  • Ideal for isolating growth factors, cytokines, and extracellular proteins

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • What proteins bind heparin?
Heparin binds growth factors (FGF, VEGF, HGF), cytokines, chemokines, extracellular matrix proteins, and many other heparin-interactive proteins through electrostatic and specific interactions. The specificity is broader than His-tag or GST-tag systems.
  • What salt concentration should I use for elution?
Typical elution uses 0.5–1.0 M NaCl in your binding buffer. Start with 0.5 M and increase if needed. Specific conditions depend on your protein and should be optimized.
  • Can I use these beads in a column?
Yes. Although the magnetic property is designed for magnetic separation, you can also pack this resin in a gravity flow or low-pressure column.
  • How do I prevent non-specific binding?
Optimize pH and buffer conditions; include carrier proteins (e.g., BSA) if needed; and wash thoroughly with bind/wash buffer before elution.
  • Are the beads suitable for automation?
Yes. Magnetic bead-based purification is well-suited to robotic liquid handlers and high-throughput platforms.
  • Can I get a COA or TDS?
Yes. Request a quote or contact us and we will provide available lot documentation.
This product is for Research Use Only (RUO). It is not intended for diagnostic or therapeutic use in humans or animals.
