APERA INSTRUMENTS / PH60 / AI311
Move beyond a basic pH pen without moving to a benchtop instrument. The PH60 pairs 0.01 pH resolution with a replaceable glass-bulb electrode, automatic calibration and a backlit display for routine water testing.
Choose AI311 for general aqueous samples when your method calls for finer pH readings and the flexibility to replace the electrode rather than the whole tester.

MATCH THE INSTRUMENT TO THE SAMPLE
Track solution pH alongside your nutrient-management routine. PH60 measures pH and temperature; it does not measure nutrient strength, EC or TDS.
Measure suitable aqueous samples with the bulb electrode. Match the result to your system’s procedure rather than treating a pH reading as a complete water-quality assessment.
Use fine display increments and automatic buffer recognition for repeatable workflows. Select the meter against your method’s required accuracy and sample composition.
The meter displays -2.00 to 16.00 pH, while Apera rates the supplied electrode at 0 to 14 pH. Treat meter range and electrode suitability as separate specifications. For demanding pure-water measurements, select an instrument and method designed for low ionic strength.
The three-color backlit display, stability indication and optional automatic HOLD make the reading process easier to follow. Automatic temperature compensation operates from 0 to 50°C; it does not remove the need to control sample conditions.
PH60 ships with the PH60-E bulb electrode for regular aqueous samples. Its replaceable design gives you a maintenance path when the electrode wears, without assuming an unlimited probe lifetime. Specialized flat and spear electrodes serve different sample-contact needs.
Start with pH 7.00, then use pH 4.00 and/or 10.01 as appropriate to bracket the expected sample. Wait for stability before confirming each calibration point.
Rinse between solutions, shake off excess water and immerse as directed. Stir briefly, hold still and record after the stability icon appears. Automatic HOLD is available when enabled.
Rinse after testing and store the electrode according to the manual with the included 3M KCl solution. Do not store the pH electrode in tap, RO, distilled or deionized water.

These are different measurement choices, not interchangeable names for the same application.
For regular aqueous samples where a glass bulb is the appropriate contact geometry.
For suitable surface-contact and small-volume methods, with the flat sensing face correctly wetted.
For water-containing soft solids, semi-solids and viscous samples. Not a general soil pen.
Watch the manufacturer’s product demonstration alongside the written steps. Keep the current manual as the authority for preparation, calibration and care.
Optional electrode illustrations do not mean extra tips are included. The standard AI311 kit is described above; choose additional accessories only for a verified requirement.
Keep pH, conductivity, TDS and salinity distinct when choosing instruments. The following are related measurement options, not accessories that attach to this tester.

The kit includes the PH60 tester with PH60-E electrode, pH 4.00, 7.00 and 10.01 buffers, 3M KCl storage solution, three calibration vials, four AAA batteries, lanyard and carrying case. A manual and quick-start guide are also listed by Apera.
Apera specifies ±0.01 pH ±1 digit accuracy, with 0.01 pH resolution. The meter display range is -2.00 to 16.00 pH; the supplied PH60-E electrode is specified for 0 to 14 pH.
PH20 is the simpler option when ±0.1 pH accuracy is sufficient and a fixed electrode suits the workflow. PH60 provides 0.01 pH resolution, ±0.01 pH ±1 digit accuracy and a replaceable electrode.
Yes. The standard replacement is PH60-E, catalog AI1201. Use the specified electrode and follow the manual’s installation and conditioning instructions. Replacement electrodes are separate purchases.
Conductivity and TDS are not PH60 measurements. ORP is available only with the separately sold ORP60-E electrode, AI1207; it is not a standard-kit inclusion. The normal kit measures pH and temperature.
Low-ionic-strength water is more challenging than buffered samples and can take longer to stabilize. Follow the PH60 manual and use specialized pure-water equipment if its results do not meet your required accuracy.
The rated temperature and ATC interval is 0 to 50°C. The current manual advises avoiding temperatures below 5°C or above 45°C for best accuracy and probe care. Cool hot samples before testing.
Rinse the probe before and after use and keep its glass membrane hydrated with the manual-specified storage approach and 3M KCl. Never store it in tap, RO, distilled or deionized water. Clean, recondition and recalibrate when contamination affects performance.
