This 5% (w/v) solution of alpha-cyclodextrin (α-CD) is a high-purity reagent used in host–guest chemistry, solubility enhancement, and supramolecular assemblies. α-CD is a cyclic oligosaccharide composed of six glucose units, forming a hydrophobic cavity that can encapsulate small organic molecules. Its smaller cavity size compared to β- and γ-cyclodextrins makes it ideal for selective complexation of low-molecular-weight guests.
Formulated in ultrapure water and filtered through 0.22 µm membranes, this biotechnology-grade solution is supplied in 25 mL aliquots and stored at 2–8°C. α-CD is widely used in pharmaceutical formulation, food science, and polymer chemistry. It has demonstrated utility in cholesterol modulation, antimicrobial delivery, and hydrogel formation. Its safety profile and functional versatility make it suitable for both analytical and preparative workflows.
Key benefits:
- 5% (w/v) α-CD solution for selective molecular encapsulation
- Supports host–guest chemistry, solubility enhancement, and hydrogel design
- Filtered through 0.22 µm for analytical reproducibility
- Packaged in ultrapure water; biotechnology grade
- Compatible with pharmaceutical, biochemical, and food science workflows
