Achieve precise water quality analysis with the HI83303 benchtop multiparameter photometer, expertly designed for aquaculture applications. This advanced instrument facilitates the measurement of 12 critical water quality parameters across 20 distinct methods, providing a comprehensive solution for aquatic environments. Its innovative optical system features high-efficiency LEDs, precision narrow band interference filters, a dedicated focusing lens, and dual detectors—a silicon photodetector for accurate absorbance measurements and a reference detector to ensure consistent light source stability. This sophisticated design guarantees highly accurate and repeatable photometric results with every test.

Engineered with the needs of the aquaculture industry in mind, the HI83303 is an indispensable tool for maintaining optimal chemical and environmental conditions, thereby contributing to disease prevention and enhanced production. This versatile photometer enables monitoring of vital parameters such as alkalinity, calcium, nitrite, and phosphate. Alkalinity plays a crucial role in buffering pH fluctuations and storing CO2, essential for photosynthesis and oxygen production in ponds. Maintaining specific calcium levels is fundamental for proper fish growth and skeletal development. Excessive nitrite can be detrimental to fish by interfering with oxygen transport in the bloodstream, while phosphate, though necessary for plant growth, can lead to harmful algal blooms if present in excess, reducing dissolved oxygen critical for a healthy aquatic ecosystem.

Integrated digital pH electrode input expands the meter’s functionality, allowing precise pH measurements using a traditional glass electrode. Intelligent digital pH electrodes feature a built-in microchip that stores all calibration data, enabling "hot-swap" capabilities for seamless electrode changes without the need for recalibration, which significantly streamlines workflow. All pH readings benefit from automatic temperature compensation, provided by a thermistor located within the sensing bulb, ensuring rapid and accurate temperature integration.

The HI83303 also includes an absorbance measurement mode, compatible with Hanna Instruments' CAL Check™ standards for system validation. This mode empowers users to conduct their own concentration versus absorbance studies at five selectable wavelengths (420 nm, 466 nm, 525 nm, 575 nm, and 610 nm). This feature is invaluable for implementing custom chemical methodologies and serves as an excellent educational tool for demonstrating the principles of absorbance and Beer-Lambert Law.

Enhanced connectivity is provided through two USB ports: a host port for easy data transfer to a flash drive, and a micro USB-B port for connection to a computer or as an alternative power source. For ultimate convenience and portability in the field, the meter can also be powered by its internal 3.7 VDC Lithium-polymer rechargeable battery.

Please note: Reagents are not included with this photometer and must be purchased separately.

Advanced Optical System

Innovative Design

The HI83303 features an innovative optical system with a beam splitter for simultaneous absorbance and reference detection. The reference detector actively compensates for light source drift, ensuring unparalleled photometric performance.

High Efficiency LED Light Source

LED light sources offer superior luminous efficiency, providing more light with less power consumption and minimal heat generation, enhancing optical component and electronic stability. LEDs also offer better output in the blue/violet spectrum compared to traditional tungsten lamps.

High-Quality Narrow Band Interference Filters

These filters ensure greater wavelength accuracy (+/- 1 nm) and high efficiency (up to 95% transmission), resulting in a brighter, stronger light source. This leads to enhanced measurement stability and reduced wavelength error compared to less efficient filters.

Reference Detector for a Stable Light Source

The internal reference system, utilizing a beam splitter and reference detector, actively compensates for any light source drift due to power fluctuations or ambient temperature changes, ensuring stable and reliable measurements between blank and sample readings.

Large Cuvette Size

The HI83303 accommodates a 25 mm path length round glass cuvette. This larger size, combined with advanced optics, minimizes rotation errors and the longer path length ensures accurate measurements, even in low absorbance samples.

Focusing Lens for Greater Light Yield

A focusing lens in the optical path ensures that all light exiting the cuvette is collected and precisely focused onto the silicon photodetector, eliminating errors from cuvette imperfections and the need for indexing, leading to more consistent results.
