APERA INSTRUMENTS / PH400 / AI411
A dedicated portable pH kit for routine aqueous measurements. PH400 combines 0.01 pH resolution, a separate 201T-S pH/temperature electrode and a backlit display in an IP57 meter built to travel with its calibration supplies.
Choose AI411 when you want a straightforward pH workflow with a cabled electrode, without the recording and USB functions of the PH400S.

The AI411 standard kit brings together the meter, its specified electrode and the matching calibration supplies. It is not a meter-only order.

START WITH THE SAMPLE AND THE WORKFLOW
Measure suitable general aqueous samples using the supplied 201T-S. Choose the electrode against the chemistry and temperature, not just the meter’s display range.
Use automatic buffer recognition and the combined parameter/temperature display to make a repeatable calibration and measurement routine easier to follow.
A separate cabled probe lets you position the sensor while keeping the meter readable. Keep the 8-pin connection dry and protect the electrode in transit.
The 201T-S is a separate, replaceable pH/temperature electrode with an 8-pin connector. Automatic 1-3 point pH calibration supports USA or NIST buffer families. The standard kit supplies pH 4.00, 7.00 and 10.01 buffers, so the first calibration can start at pH 7.00.
Use stable-reading indication and the display HOLD option to record a reading confidently. HOLD freezes the display; it is not measurement storage or a USB data logger.
Choose the data workflow and parameter set, not the suffix alone. S does not mean a different standard probe or automatically better sample compatibility.
A measurement-focused pH kit. 1-3 point pH calibration. No supported measurement logger or USB function is documented for this standard model.
Timestamped memory, manual/timed recording and USB/PC-Link. 500 groups per US manual. Up to five pH calibration points. The standard supplied electrode model remains the same.
Stable-reading indication and automatic HOLD help you capture a reading consistently. Record the result in your chosen workflow. The standard PH400 is not the recording/USB version of the family; choose PH400S when its documented memory and connected-data functions are required.
For USA buffers, start at pH 7.00 and add pH 4.00 and/or 10.01 as appropriate. Use clean buffers, wait for stability and keep pH calibration separate from conductivity standards. The standard model supports 1-3 automatic pH calibration points.
Rinse before and after samples, avoid bubbles at the sensor and wait for stability. Keep connectors dry. The meter’s electronic range and compensation interval do not override the supplied electrode’s sample limits.
Keep pH glass in its KCl-based storage system, never pure water. For 2301T-S, follow its dedicated instructions for distilled/DI water in the cap. Do not rub sensing surfaces or improvise aggressive cleaning treatments.
For a dedicated pH routine with a separate 201T-S electrode. ORP needs a separately sold compatible electrode.
For conductivity and calculated TDS. S adds salinity/resistivity readouts and data functions.
For both pH and EC-derived workflows with two supplied probes, used in their appropriate modes.
A pocket tester can suit a different handling preference. Compare the measurement requirements, sensor and recording needs before switching formats; these are alternative instruments, not compatible plug-in accessories.
Alternative format: Apera EC60 pocket conductivity/TDS/salinity tester
Related workflow: Apera PC60 multi-parameter pocket tester
AI411 includes the PH400 meter, 201T-S pH/temperature electrode, pH 4.00, 7.00 and 10.01 buffers, carrying case and instructions. Each listed calibration bottle is 50 mL. The meter requires four AA batteries.
The meter specifies ±0.01 pH ±1 digit accuracy, 0.01 pH resolution and a 0.00-14.00 pH range. Those meter specifications do not establish suitability of the supplied electrode for every sample at the endpoints.
PH400 is the standard measurement-focused model. PH400S adds documented timestamped memory, timed recording and USB/PC-Link functions, plus broader meter pH calibration/range options. The standard supplied pH electrode model is the same 201T-S.
No supported measurement logger or USB function is documented for PH400 in the standard-series specification and connection scheme. Its stable-reading HOLD function is a display aid, not stored measurement history.
The supplied electrode is 201T-S, replacement catalog AI1312, with pH and temperature sensing and an 8-pin connection. A BNC-only electrode is not automatically a compatible replacement.
No. ORP requires the separately sold 301Pt-S 8-pin electrode. The standard pH probe should not be described as an included ORP sensor.
The 201T-S is for general aqueous work. Distilled/DI-water pH, caustic solutions and prolonged high-temperature or extreme-pH use can require another suitable electrode. Electronic temperature compensation is not a guarantee of probe compatibility.
Keep the pH glass hydrated in its 3M KCl storage cap, rinse before and after samples, and do not rub the glass. Never use tap, RO, distilled or deionized water as pH-electrode storage liquid.
Review the PH400 specifications and supplied parts, then return to the price and ordering controls. Blue Tiger Scientific can help you compare the meter, probe and recording requirements for your application.
Meter ranges and compensation intervals describe the electronics, not an unrestricted operating range for the supplied electrode. Match the exact probe and sample conditions to the method.
