APERA INSTRUMENTS / PC400S / AI423
PC400S combines pH and conductivity workflows with calculated TDS, salinity and resistivity modes, timestamped memory and USB output. The kit supplies separate pH/temperature and conductivity/temperature electrodes, along with standards for both routines.
Choose AI423 when you need several water-measurement workflows and documented data handling in one portable meter. It selects the connected electrode and parameter; it is not presented as simultaneous dual-channel pH-plus-EC acquisition.
1000 groups
Meter memory
Timestamped manual/timed records
USB
Data workflow
Cable included; PC-Link options
IP57
Meter enclosure
Keep electrode connectors dry
The AI423 standard kit brings together the meter, its specified electrodes and the matching calibration supplies. It is not a meter-only order.
PC400S meter, 201T-S pH/temperature and 2301T-S conductivity/temperature electrodes, pH 4.00, 7.00 and 10.01 buffers and 84 µS/cm, 1413 µS/cm and 12.88 mS/cm conductivity standards, USB cable, carrying case and instructions.
201T-S pH/temperature and 2301T-S conductivity/temperature electrodes
pH 4.00, 7.00 and 10.01 buffers; 84 µS/cm, 1413 µS/cm and 12.88 mS/cm conductivity standards; 50 mL per listed bottle
USB cable, carrying case and instructions
START WITH THE SAMPLE AND THE WORKFLOW
Move between pH and conductivity-derived results using the proper electrode. Record which parameter, probe and compensation settings produced the result.
Use the documented 1000-group meter memory for saved field measurements, or the USB/PC-Link workflow for connected reporting. These use different data destinations.
Compare glass pH sensing and conductivity sensing without buying two meters. Keep their standards, cleaning and storage routines separate.
PC400S includes the 201T-S pH/temperature electrode and 2301T-S conductivity/temperature electrode. The 8-pin connection recognizes the connected type, while the display shows the selected parameter with temperature. The S-series manual specifies 1000 stored groups for this model.
The supplied set includes three pH buffers and three conductivity standards. USB cable and carrying case are part of AI423; ORP needs a separately sold 301Pt-S electrode, not one of the standard two probes.
Use the 201T-S for pH and the 2301T-S for conductivity-derived measurements. Each has a built-in temperature sensor; change the connected probe and measurement rather than assuming simultaneous pH/EC capture.
Keep the 201T-S pH glass hydrated in KCl. Follow the dedicated 2301T-S instructions for distilled/DI water in its storage cap. Do not use a shared storage liquid for convenience.
Choose the data workflow and parameter set, not the suffix alone. S does not mean a different standard probe or automatically better sample compatibility.
A measurement-focused pH and EC/TDS kit. 1-3 point pH calibration. 1-4 point EC calibration. No supported measurement logger or USB function is documented for this standard model.
Timestamped memory, manual/timed recording and USB/PC-Link. 1000 groups per US manual. Up to five pH calibration points. Salinity/resistivity modes added. The standard supplied electrode models remain the same.
Offline field records stay in the meter’s documented memory. In a connected PC-Link session, live measurements are sent to software rather than saved in meter memory. Decide which workflow you need before starting a timed run.
Apera now links a browser-based PC-Link option alongside legacy Windows instructions. The current app uses Web Serial and names Chrome, Edge and Opera. USB drivers, browser permissions and local IT requirements can still affect setup.
Use the date, time, parameter, temperature and calibration information to support your records. These GLP-style functions do not by themselves establish an immutable audit trail, electronic signatures or regulated-software compliance.
For USA buffers, start at pH 7.00 and add pH 4.00 and/or 10.01 as appropriate. Use clean buffers, wait for stability and keep pH calibration separate from conductivity standards. Optional five-point work needs additional buffers beyond the three supplied.
Use suitable points from 84 µS/cm, 1413 µS/cm and 12.88 mS/cm. The recognized 111.8 mS/cm point is optional. Calibrate low to high and document the reference temperature, coefficient and any TDS factor.
Rinse before and after samples, avoid bubbles at the sensor and wait for stability. Keep connectors dry. The meter’s electronic range and compensation interval do not override the supplied electrode’s sample limits.
Keep pH glass in its KCl-based storage system, never pure water. For 2301T-S, follow its dedicated instructions for distilled/DI water in the cap. Do not rub sensing surfaces or improvise aggressive cleaning treatments.
For a dedicated pH routine with a separate 201T-S electrode. ORP needs a separately sold compatible electrode.
For conductivity and calculated TDS. S adds salinity/resistivity readouts and data functions.
For both pH and EC-derived workflows with two supplied probes, used in their appropriate modes.
A pocket tester can suit a different handling preference. Compare the measurement requirements, sensor and recording needs before switching formats; these are alternative instruments, not compatible plug-in accessories.
Alternative format: Apera EC60 pocket conductivity/TDS/salinity tester
Related workflow: Apera PC60 multi-parameter pocket tester
AI423 includes PC400S, 201T-S pH/temperature and 2301T-S conductivity/temperature electrodes, three pH buffers, three conductivity standards, USB cable, carrying case and instructions. Four AA batteries are the specified power source.
It supports both measurements with separate supplied electrodes, but simultaneous dual-channel acquisition is not substantiated. The connected electrode selects the appropriate mode; the display shows the selected parameter and temperature.
The US S-series manual specifies 1000 groups. Stored records include number, date, time, measurement, unit and temperature. Manual and timed recording are documented.
PC400S adds documented timestamped memory, timed recording and USB/PC-Link, plus salinity/resistivity modes and S-series pH options. Both standard kits include 201T-S and 2301T-S, so the S model is not a different-probe kit.
The kit supplies pH 4.00, 7.00 and 10.01 buffers and 84 µS/cm, 1413 µS/cm and 12.88 mS/cm conductivity standards. Each listed bottle is 50 mL. Additional buffers or 111.8 mS/cm are needed for extra calibration points.
The US manual gives pH -2.00 to 19.99, conductivity to 200 mS/cm, calculated TDS to 100 g/L, salinity to 100 ppt and resistivity to 100 MΩ·cm. These meter ranges do not override the supplied electrode’s sample limits.
Apera links a current Web Serial browser option that names Chrome, Edge and Opera. Legacy Windows instructions also exist. Confirm USB permissions/drivers and local IT compatibility; live readings go to software rather than meter memory.
No. Keep 201T-S pH glass hydrated in its KCl storage cap, never pure water. The dedicated 2301T-S conductivity instructions specify distilled/DI water in its cap. Rinse both appropriately and keep their connectors clean and dry.
Review the PC400S specifications and supplied parts, then return to the price and ordering controls. Blue Tiger Scientific can help you compare the meter, probe and recording requirements for your application.
Meter ranges and compensation intervals describe the electronics, not an unrestricted operating range for the supplied electrode. Match the exact probe and sample conditions to the method.
