Check nutrient-solution pH and dissolved salts with one portable kit. The Hanna HI9813-61 brings pH, conductivity, TDS and temperature measurements together in the included HI1285-61 combination probe. Move between measurement modes with dedicated buttons instead of carrying separate pH and conductivity instruments.

Designed for hydroponics, greenhouses, farming and groundwater applications, it pairs manual one-point calibration with on-screen guidance. Its 0.1 pH resolution and 0.00–4.00 mS/cm conductivity range suit routine checks when you want straightforward operation rather than an advanced multi-parameter laboratory workflow.

CAL Check helps you decide what to do next. Place the probe in the specified calibration-check solution and press Check to assess its condition. This is a practical check on the pH probe—not automatic calibration and not a substitute for routine care.

One included probe. Four measurement modes.

The HI1285-61 combines a pH electrode, EC/TDS sensor and temperature sensor in one polypropylene body. Its 1 m (3.3 ft) cable connects to the meter through an 8-pin DIN connector, so you can keep the display separate from the sample.

Built for pump-filled growing environments

The amplified pH electrode helps reduce the effects of electrical noise from equipment such as motors, pumps and lighting ballasts. This is especially useful around greenhouse and hydroponic systems; correct calibration and sample handling still matter.

EC and TDS: two ways to follow dissolved salts

The conductivity sensor measures current passing between stainless-steel pins. Choose EC to read conductivity directly, or TDS for an estimated concentration in ppm. The meter automatically adjusts its TDS factor from 0.56 to 0.78 using the 442 natural-water curve, rather than using a fixed 500 or 700 ppm scale.

No electrolyte refilling—not no maintenance

The gel-filled pH electrode does not need periodic electrolyte refills. It still needs rinsing, cleaning, calibration and moist storage. Keep the sensing bulb and junction from drying out and use the storage practice specified in the manual.

  • Water-resistant meter for portable use; do not treat it as submersible.
  • EC and TDS readings include automatic temperature compensation at a fixed 2%/°C coefficient.
  • The supplied probe is specified for pH 0–13 and 0–50°C, within the meter’s wider display ranges.

What comes with the HI9813-61 kit?

The standard kit is supplied in a rugged carrying case. Hanna’s exact-model manual lists the following items:

  • HI9813-61 meter and HI1285-61 pH/EC/TDS/temperature probe.
  • pH 7.01 buffer, 1413 µS/cm conductivity standard and 1500 ppm TDS calibration solution: one sachet each.
  • General-purpose agriculture cleaning solution: two sachets; calibration-check solution: two sachets.
  • 100 mL plastic beaker, 9V alkaline battery, instrument quality certificate and instruction manual.

A simple check–measure–store routine

Before sampling: prepare the probe and calibrate as directed. Use the Check key with HI50021 solution when checking the pH probe’s condition; the displayed result guides the next cleaning or calibration step.

During sampling: select pH, mS/cm, ppm or °C using the dedicated key and wait for the reading to stabilize. EC/TDS compensation helps account for sample-temperature changes; pH calibration is adjusted manually using the buffer’s value at its measured temperature.

After sampling: rinse the probe and store it with the bulb and junction moist. A few drops of the specified storage solution in the protective cap support proper storage; distilled or deionized water is not a storage solution.

Is this the right meter for your work?

Choose the HI9813-61 for routine, portable solution testing when 0.1 pH resolution, manual one-point calibration and a 0.00–4.00 mS/cm EC range meet your needs. For applications requiring finer pH resolution or a different conductivity range, choose by the required measurement specifications rather than assuming every multiparameter meter is interchangeable.

Related care supply: Hanna HI70300L electrode storage solution. Sold separately; a bottle of storage solution is not listed in the standard kit contents.

HI9813-61 buying questions

Does the HI9813-61 include a probe and carrying case?

Yes. The standard kit includes the HI1285-61 combination probe and a rugged carrying case, plus the starter solution sachets, beaker, battery and documentation listed above. It is not a meter-only offer.

Does CAL Check calibrate the meter automatically?

No. CAL Check uses HI50021 calibration-check solution and the Check key to assess the pH probe. The meter can display “Probe is OK” or “Clean Probe and Calibrate.” pH and EC/TDS calibration are performed manually with the calibration knobs.

Will its ppm result match a fixed 500- or 700-scale TDS meter?

Not necessarily. The HI9813-61 uses a variable 0.56–0.78 conversion factor based on the 442 curve. If your nutrient instructions specify a fixed ppm scale, compare EC readings where possible rather than assuming ppm numbers from different scales are directly equivalent.

Are all four readings displayed at the same time?

No. The LCD displays the selected measurement mode. Dedicated pH, mS/cm, ppm and °C keys let you switch between measurements using the same connected probe.

Can I use the supplied probe at 70°C or pH 14?

The meter’s display ranges extend to 70°C and pH 14.0, but the supplied probe is specified for 0–50°C and pH 0–13. The usable measurement range is limited by the probe as well as the meter.

Is the HI9813-61 waterproof?

Hanna’s exact-model instruction manual describes this meter as water-resistant. Do not assume it is submersible or has an IP-rated waterproof enclosure; no immersion rating is stated in that manual.

Which replacement probe should I choose?

The specified replacement for this model is HI1285-61 with CAL Check and the 8-pin DIN connector. The related HI1285-51 is the probe listed for HI9813-51; do not choose a replacement by its appearance alone.

What warranty applies to the meter and probe?

The instruction manual specifies two years for the instrument and six months for the probe against defects in workmanship and materials when used and maintained correctly. Misuse, accidental damage and lack of prescribed maintenance are excluded. Contact Blue Tiger Scientific for help coordinating the appropriate manufacturer support route.
