The Biomiga GI Panel Real-Time PCR Detection Kit (QP2166) is a qualitative multiplex real-time PCR assay for bacterial, diarrheagenic E. coli, parasitic and viral nucleic acids in unpreserved stool collected in Cary-Blair transport medium. Targets run across seven multiplex mixes, each read in four fluorescence channels, with a human RNase P internal control and kit positive and negative controls. Built-in marker logic separates E. coli pathotypes, including STEC, EHEC, EPEC, EAEC, ETEC and EIEC/Shigella.

For research use only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.

How it works

STEP 1

Extract

Purify DNA/RNA from stool in Cary-Blair medium with an extraction kit (not included).

STEP 2

Set up 7 mixes

15 µL of each GI PCR Mix plus 5 µL of extract or control, for a 20 µL reaction.

STEP 3

Run

50 °C for 5 min, 95 °C for 2 min, then 40 cycles of 95 °C for 5 s and 60 °C for 20 s.

STEP 4

Read

Confirm the controls pass, then call each target by channel and assign E. coli pathotypes from the marker table.

INSTRUMENTS

Runs on the cyclers labs already own

Biomiga lists the Applied Biosystems 7500, Thermo Fisher QuantStudio 5, 7 and 12K, and Bio-Rad CFX96 and CFX384 as compatible. Any real-time cycler with FAM, JOE (HEX or VIC), ROX and Cy5 channels meets the IFU's requirement.

You supply: DNA/RNA extraction reagents, Cary-Blair collection containers, PCR tubes or plates, RNase-free 1.5 mL tubes, a vortex, a high-speed centrifuge, micropipettes with filter tips, and PPE.

What's in the box

Component 100 tests 1,000 tests
GI PCR Mix 1–7 1.5 mL each 15 mL each
Positive Control 100 µL 500 µL
Negative Control 100 µL 500 µL

Built for enteric pathogen research

Surveillance studies

Profile bacterial, parasitic and viral targets across stool sample sets.

E. coli pathotyping

Separate STEC, EHEC, EPEC, EAEC, ETEC and EIEC by virulence markers.

Food and water safety research

Salmonella, Campylobacter, Vibrio, norovirus and more in one workflow.

Assay development

A broad multiplex reference for method comparison and validation.

When this kit is the right call

  • No new analyzer: runs on ABI, QuantStudio and Bio-Rad CFX instruments.
  • Four pathogen classes: bacteria, E. coli pathotypes, parasites and viruses from one extract.
  • Built-in E. coli logic: pathotype calls from marker combinations, not a single target.
  • Scales up: a 1,000-test kit for high-throughput labs.
