PH20 kit in its open carrying case with included pH calibration solutions
The standard kit includes the PH20, pH 4.00 and 7.00 buffers, batteries, lanyard and case.

Open the case. Start with the essentials.

AI209 is the standard PH20 kit - not a meter-only order. The included pH 4.00 and 7.00 buffers support an initial two-point calibration before your first measurement.

  • PH20 testerGlass-bulb pH probe with built-in temperature sensor
  • Two starter buffersReady-to-use pH 4.00 and pH 7.00 calibration solutions
  • Four AAA batteriesBattery power without a charging cable

Need a third calibration point? pH 10.01 buffer is sold separately. Dedicated electrode storage solution is not listed as a standard kit inclusion.

MATCH THE METER TO THE SAMPLE

A practical choice for everyday water checks.

Start with the sample - not just the meter. PH20 is designed for regular aqueous solutions. Match its ±0.1 pH accuracy and 0–50°C operating range to your procedure.

Hydroponic nutrient solutions

Check solution pH as part of your nutrient routine. pH and nutrient concentration are different measurements; PH20 does not measure conductivity or TDS.

Aquariums, pools and spas

Take routine water pH readings with a portable tester. Use the measured value alongside the water-care targets and procedures appropriate to your system.

Water treatment and brewing

Monitor suitable water samples within 0–50°C. For brewing, cool the sample into the stated range before testing; do not insert PH20 into hot mash.

Testing RO or distilled water? Low-conductivity samples can take longer to settle. Apera’s PH20 manual gives a typical stabilization time of 1–5 minutes for pure-water measurements. For demanding low-ionic-strength work, use an instrument and method selected for that sample.

Small details that make routine testing easier.

The built-in temperature sensor provides automatic temperature compensation from 0 to 50°C. The display shows pH and temperature together, while the smiley-face indicator tells you when the reading is stable enough to record.

Automatic buffer recognition supports 1–3 calibration points. An eight-minute inactivity shutoff and low-battery warning help manage the four-AAA power supply.

A protected glass-bulb sensor

The integrated glass probe is designed for aqueous samples. The protective sensor shield is removable for cleaning; the electrode itself is not replaceable.

Calibrate. Measure. Store it well.

01

Calibrate before the first test

Remove the battery insulation strip. Rinse the probe, start with pH 7.00, then perform the second point in pH 4.00. Let the reading stabilize before confirming each point.

02

Wait for the stability indicator

Rinse between buffers and samples, shake off excess water, immerse the probe as directed in the manual, stir briefly and hold still. Record the pH when the smiley-face indicator stays on.

03

Protect the probe between sessions

Rinse before and after testing. Follow the manual’s wet-cap or pH 4 buffer guidance for regular use; use Apera 3M KCl soaking solution for storage longer than one month. Never store the probe in tap, RO, distilled or deionized water.

PH20 or PH60: which pH tester do I need?

Buy the capability your method calls for. PH20 is the value-focused option for routine checks; PH60 is the step up when finer readings or a replaceable electrode matter.

The PH20 measures pH and temperature - not conductivity, TDS, salinity or dissolved oxygen. For nutrient-strength checks, pair your pH workflow with a separate conductivity measurement.

PH20 buyer questions

What comes in the Apera PH20 AI209 kit?

The standard AI209 kit includes the PH20 pH/temperature tester, pH 4.00 and 7.00 calibration solutions, four AAA batteries, a lanyard and a carrying case. pH 10.01 buffer is sold separately; dedicated storage solution is not listed as a standard inclusion.

How accurate is PH20, and when should I choose PH60?

PH20 measures 0–14.0 pH with ±0.1 pH accuracy and 0.1 pH resolution. Choose PH60 when your procedure calls for finer readings or a replaceable electrode; Apera specifies PH60 pH accuracy as ±0.01 pH ±1 digit. Select the instrument against your method’s requirements.

Can I replace the PH20 electrode?

No. The PH20 has a permanently integrated pH electrode. Its protective sensor shield can be detached for cleaning, but that does not make the electrode replaceable. PH60 is an alternative when replaceable-electrode flexibility is important.

Can PH20 test RO, distilled or deionized water?

Low-conductivity water is more challenging than a buffered solution. Apera’s PH20 v6.2 manual notes that pure-water readings typically take 1–5 minutes to stabilize. If the result does not meet your required accuracy, use a specialized pure-water pH instrument and appropriate method.

Which buffers do I need to calibrate PH20?

PH20 supports automatic 1–3-point calibration. Start with pH 7.00, then use the additional point or points appropriate to the sample. The kit supplies pH 4.00 and 7.00 buffers; pH 10.01 is optional. Apera recommends a two-point calibration before first use.

Does PH20 measure EC, TDS or salinity?

No. AI209 measures pH and temperature. Conductivity, TDS and salinity require a separate suitable instrument. A conductivity tester such as EC20 is a related workflow tool, not a replacement for a pH measurement.

Can I use PH20 for hydroponics, aquariums, pools or brewing?

Yes, PH20 supports routine pH checks of suitable aqueous samples in those applications when ±0.1 pH accuracy meets the task. Keep samples within 0–50°C. Cool brewing samples before measurement, and do not use the glass bulb as a soil-piercing or solid-food spear probe.

How should I clean and store my PH20?

Rinse the probe before and after testing and shake off excess water. Follow the manual’s wet-cap or pH 4 buffer guidance for regular use and Apera 3M KCl soaking solution for storage longer than one month. Never store PH20 in tap, RO, distilled or deionized water; rinsing and storage are different steps.

A complete kit. A clear next step.

Choose PH20 for straightforward pH and temperature checks when ±0.1 pH meets your needs. Review the specifications and included items, then order the AI209 kit - or ask Blue Tiger Scientific for help matching the tester to your application.
